The UMass Lowell American Studies Program and The Kerouac Center for the Public Humanities is very pleased to welcome Scott Saul, professor of English at the University of California-Berkeley, to talk about his new biography Becoming Richard Pryor (Harper).
Scott Saul’s writing about American culture has appeared in Harper’s Magazine, The New York Times, The Nation, and Bookforum, among many other publications. Becoming Richard Pryor has recently been chosen as one of ten finalists for this year’s PEN Literary Prize in Biography. Scott Saul is also the author of Freedom Is, Freedom Ain’t: Jazz and the Making of the Sixties (Harvard University Press).
